Picture Book

Picture Book | Machinimania | Scoop.it

Picture Book is a fantastical world that expands like the universe everyday. There are obstacles, good folks and not so nice shadow players to meet along the path. Any story Ruby cares about includes conflict. Picture Book is a hero journey and explorers are given the opportunity to write their own journey stories while they visit.

Ann Dickerson is the builder of Picture Book in Kitely Grid which is a story telling world. Ann's avatar (typist) is called Ruby O'Degree which she describes as a fictive author and storybuilder in the tradition of characters developed for telling stories such as Sherlock Holmes, Marco Polo, and Cynthia Rawlings.

Cool concept and very fascinating -

Is Second Life About to Become a Ghost World? | Machinimania | Scoop.it
Second Life, one of the most hyped virtual worlds in history, is heading towards ghost town status. Intrepid tech reporter Wagner James Au broke the story over the weekend, noting that Second Life makers Linden Lab are at work on a top-secret new virtual world.
Henrik Safegaard - Cloneartist's insight:

"The next generation virtual world will go far beyond what is possible with Second Life, and we don't want to constrain our development by setting backward compatibility with Second Life as an absolute requirement from the start. "

Firefox to bring virtual reality to the web - Hypergrid Business | Machinimania | Scoop.it

"In particular, that means support for WebGL — which was used most recently by the Cloud Party virtual world to create a Second Life-style immersive experience right in a Web browser, no download required.
The end result should make it easier to create Web-based virtual world browsers without worrying about making it work with particular equipment." wrote Maria Korolov.

Greyville – A Writer’s Colony In OpenSim Part Of The Hypergrid Stories Project » Ciaran Laval | Machinimania | Scoop.it

With many thanks to Talla Adam who is a member of the Opensim Virtual Community on Google+ I have discovered a writer’s colony in OpenSim. I had never been to OpenSim before so the first thing I had to do was to figure out how to get there.

Henrik Safegaard - Cloneartist's insight:

The welcome centre has a very useful notecard, which is so useful that it basically writes this blog for me! Now the first thing to note is that this is a work in progress. Nara Malone is the brains behind this.

New World Notes: Japanese-Themed Hosoi Ichiba Sims Leave SL for Kitely

New World Notes: Japanese-Themed Hosoi Ichiba Sims Leave SL for Kitely | Machinimania | Scoop.it
Hosoi Ichiba, a Japanese-themed SL market which supported six very beautiful sims, has entirely left Second Life, moving to the OpenSim-based Kitely.
Henrik Safegaard - Cloneartist's insight:

The sims had attracted a community of some 150-200 SLers, owner Amiryu Hosoi tells me, "All very active in samurai, geisha and villagers roles", but the collapsing real world economy made it difficult for Hosoi to maintain those islands.
