"David Farrier breaks down the charming, low-fi marketing campaign for new vampire mockumentary What We Do In The Shadows."

Alex Stewart's curator insight, February 15, 2015 3:37 PM

It's odd that in marketing we got so caught up in 'channels', that someone needed to coin the term 'transmedia' to give us the permission to break free. These guys have a shoe string budget and look the world and say 'I've got something good to share with you' or 'you know what would be cool', then they do it. No over-thinking or analysis, they just use whatever they can to share the story, and the story becomes conversation, and everyone has fun.

Facebook Is Going To Ruin Your News Feed With Auto-Playing Video Ads | Machinimania | Scoop.it

In Facebook's quest to generate more revenue, it's going to muck up your News Feed with auto-playing videos, the FT reports.

Facebook is set to launch video advertising in its newsfeed in July...

Henrik Safegaard - Cloneartist's insight:

Oh no. That woudn't be a good idea. It would be terrible.

Sage Osterfeld's curator insight, May 8, 2013 11:45 AM

Facebook taking a queue from porn sites. Great.

Is there anything more annoying that an autoplaying ad that you don't care about ruining whatever it is you're doing? Every time I run across one, it's usually below the scroll where I can see it so I'm like, "where the hell is that noise coming from?" (Then I scroll down and find the ad playing, right click on it and use my Ad Block plugin to keep that server from ever showing me an ad again.)

Elliottsweb's curator insight, May 23, 2013 10:49 AM

Oh no! Not more auto-playing ads!

Something Startling This Way Comes -- The Role of Wonder in Biz Stories

Something Startling This Way Comes -- The Role of Wonder in Biz Stories | Machinimania | Scoop.it
This stage in story design is itself another face of wonder. Wonder is experiencing something anew. At first, wonder opens us to the moment, feeling suspended in time and space for a few seconds. Or a few months.

Wow -- what a gem of an article! I love love love it.  It's perspective is unique, different and so right on.

The author, Jeffery Davis, tackles the emotion of wonder and how critical it is for 'storytellers and business artists' (that's us, BTW) to understand it, and build it into our organizational stories.

Awesome!

Davis does a great job explaining 2 types of wonder and how they relate to business and business storytelling. He talks about why working with wonder is important, and then goes on to suggest how we can bring wonder into the stories we share.

Run -- don't walk -- to read this significant piece. You will be glad you did!

Ben Child: Is a revelation in a TV trailer for Ridley Scott's new science-fiction film just a calculated attempt to increase hype?

The promotion for this movie has elevated hype to an art form. I still think the asteroid mining story that broke a couple of weeks ago is part of the orchestrated hype leading up to this movie's release. ;)
