The Sleep of the Beloved by Paul Schneggenburger | Inspiration Grid | Design Inspiration

The Sleep of the Beloved by Paul Schneggenburger | Inspiration Grid | Design Inspiration | Best of Design Art, Inspirational Ideas for Designers and The Rest of Us | Scoop.it

“What happens to lovers while they are sleeping?”

The answer could be in this fascinating series of long exposure pictures by Austrian photographer Paul Schneggenburger.

These photographs are shot in the photographer’s spare bedroom against a backdrop of black sheets lit by Christmas lights.

Curious about how people behave when they are asleep, Schneggenburger set up a six-hour exposure camera that works from midnight to 6am to record the ‘nocturnal lovers’ dance’.”

Bodies in Motion by Leah Yerpe | Inspiration Grid | Design Inspiration

Bodies in Motion by Leah Yerpe | Inspiration Grid | Design Inspiration | Best of Design Art, Inspirational Ideas for Designers and The Rest of Us | Scoop.it

Leah Yerpe is a talented artist who lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.

“I enjoy using the human figure in my work because we cannot help but project on and relate to it. The bodies in my work are multiplied in different poses, twisting, floating and falling on a ground purged of contextualizing marks.

I never pose my models; they have free reign to move in an immediate, improvised dance. This looseness contrasts with a fastidious drawing technique, where I capture the bodies of my models as if formal elements in a collage. I see them transformed from free individuals into symbolic figures. This is akin to the transformation of human experience in mythology and religion.

The influence of mythology on my artwork is often hinted at in the titles, though my work is not a direct illustration of the stories. What I’m after is that kernel at the heart of the story, the core that will always resonate human experience.”

Beautiful Woodwork by Thibaut Malet

Beautiful Woodwork by Thibaut Malet | Best of Design Art, Inspirational Ideas for Designers and The Rest of Us | Scoop.it

Thibaut Malet is a freelance designer based in Montpellier, France. The incredible creations that you see below are all made by hand with, if you haven't already guessed it, wood. Thibaut has come up with some incredible ideas for the simplest of things such as lamps, bike shelves and more.

Every time I start a new project, I try to work with one or two materials, first, to highlight the object in his natural aspect and also to think about the recycling options in the future. This is why I avoid the use of industrials screws and nails during the construction, replacing them with wood solutions. This process helps the designs to fit my ecological expectations. Recycling materials are a great source of inspiration and coming from a carpenter family, wood stays my material of choice because of his infinite capacities.

Relativity: Surreal Paintings by Alex Hall | Inspiration Grid | Design Inspiration

Relativity: Surreal Paintings by Alex Hall | Inspiration Grid | Design Inspiration | Best of Design Art, Inspirational Ideas for Designers and The Rest of Us | Scoop.it

“My new series ‘Relativity’ depicts individuals floating in time and space. I chose to paint the figures with no distinct faces so they would relate to every man and every woman. This particular series is a very honest representation of where I am currently in my own life. Having recently graduated college and being thrown off my feet into the real world, I was extremely overwhelmed. I still was not sure what path to take or which way to go in life. I began to realize that most people are familiar with this feeling of uncertainty. With that idea, I sought out to create a series that was a visual representation of an emotion that has been universally felt by all people: A sense of uncertainty, and ultimately struggling to achieve a balance in life.”
